Laurie has been making, designing and selling commission furniture since high school, specialising in hand tools and traditional joinery.
Laurie makes all his pieces in a tiny shed in Brunswick that is just big enough for his hand tools, workbench, and himself. As well as tutoring at H&Co, he also teaches woodwork at the Melbourne School of Design and for Woodworkers of Melbourne University. Later this year, Laurie will be travelling to Canada to take a 3-month course on traditional timber framing and log building. Outside of woodworking, he is a keen gardener and is studying a Master of Urban Horticulture, specialising in Green Infrastructure.
