Fringe Furniture 31.
From the reassuringly practical to the confusingly obtuse, Fringe Furniture has seen it all. A boundary-pushing showcase of cutting-edge industrial design. This is no Ikea showroom (though you might still find something comfy to sit on).
The team at Handsome & Co were very proud to be Fringe Furniture award partners for the 3rd year running, presenting the Craftsmanship Award to Hugh Makin for his Passage Credenza and Linus Table.
Congratulations to all the organisers, participants and award winners including:
Production Ready Award presented by Like Butter: Edie Kurzer – Narrow Minded Bookshelf
Best Student Design presented by Tongue and Groove: Morgan Doty – CYMK Chair
Award for Best Design -Sustainable Material & Practice presented by Banyule Council: Morgan Doty – CYMK Chair
Emerging Designer Award presented by Craft: Nancy Ji – Archie
ISM Objects Award for Lighting Innovations presented by ISM Objects: John Budd – Lucienne Vessels
Out of the Echo Chambre Award presented by the Abbotsford Convent: Nancy Ji – Archie
A special shout out to H&Co resident Josh Carmody for his work – The Remnants, winner of the Tait Award for Design Innovation presented by Tait.
The 2017 awards night and exhibition was nothing short of excellent. We hope to be invited back next year to support the Furniture design community and Melbourne Fringe.
